Chiropractic Care

Expect a unique blend of chiropractic and manual therapy. Our goal is to help you move better. As joint function improves, aches and pains and nerve involvement are reduced.

Chiropractic Care

Your nervous system controls and regulates every cell of your body. Interference to nerve messages between your brain and body can cause tissue malfunction.

The moving bones of your spine are a common cause of nerve interference. Drugs can’t restore the proper motion and position of misaligned spinal bones.

But a chiropractic adjustment can.

Drs. Scott and Maria will use their hands to deliver a light, quick thrust. Spinal adjustments coax wayward spinal vertebrae back into proper alignment. As they do, you’ll be able to move better and symptoms typically resolve.

We use time-tested adjusting techniques:

Diversified – A precise thrust is administered to misaligned spinal bones. Sometimes this produces a sound as gas and fluids shift in the joint. While interesting, the sound has little meaning.

Thompson Drop – This is a popular way to analyze and adjust. We use a special table with sections that give way. This reduces the amount of energy needed to adjust your spine.

Extremities – Virtually any joint of the body can become misaligned. We adapt our adjusting techniques to help other joint related issues. We’ve had great success with TMJ, wrists, elbows and shoulders as well as ankles, knees and hips.

Expect a form of manual therapy before your adjustments. This relaxes muscles and soft tissues. It makes your adjustments easier and more comfortable.

Dr. Scott or Dr. Maria will personally deliver your manual therapy. They’ll select the best approach based on their clinical findings:

Myofascial Release – We’ll apply a gentle sustained pressure into connective tissue. This reduces the tightness of muscles and soft tissue. Releasing these “trigger points” often improves joint range of motion.

Active Cupping – We’ve borrowed this technique from sports medicine. We apply small suction cups to tight muscles and soft tissues. This allows us to gently massage adhesions and underlying scar tissue. Improved blood flow helps speed the healing process.

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation – We use a special tool to soften scar tissue. These adhesions can be created by trauma or over use. They are often present in and around malfunctioning joints. As their effects are reduced your adjustments tend to hold better.

Percussion Massage – A small hand instrument delivers a series of repeated taps to muscles. By penetrating into deeper tissues you’ll notice relief and relaxation. Improved blood flow and joint function helps promote repair and healing.

Electro-Muscle Stimulation – This offers both relief and muscle re-education. Our high-tech equipment delivers an electrical current that helps block the sensation of pain. It also helps activate muscles that are failing to contract.

As joint function improves, partner with us to retrain and strengthen supporting muscles.

We’ll prescribe specific exercises. They’re designed to correct joint malfunction and reduce the chance of reinjury. We’ll demonstrate these exercises and have you perform some of them during your visits. Others you’ll do at home by consulting our YouTube channel.
